8-828

American Cow Bell - 1800s According to it's handwritten brown paper tag, this sweet cow bell was made in 1897. It measures 4 1/8" tall and 2 1/2" at the base. The top is actually a clip so you can hang it from a rope, etc.

Condition is excellent with the sweet ringing clacker still intact. There is some normal aging on the metal.

9-42

Set of 3 Metal Grain Measures - Dry Measures This is a rare set of 3 primitive dry grain measures. They are made of a metal that appears to be galvanized - possibly tin (metal identification is not my strong suit). The largest is marked "1Pk DRY" (one peck) and measures 5 3/4" deep and 11 1/2" in diameter, the middle is marked "4Qt Dry" and is 5" deep and 8 3/4" in diameter and the smallest is marked "2Qt Dry" and measures 4" deep and 7" diameter.

Condition is good for grain measures that have obviously been well used. Expect to see age as well as some old paint drips and the largest measure is mishaped some due to use. There are no holes or tears in the metal.

These would be great for a primitive decoration in the kitchen or plant holders - lots of possibilities!

Redware Batter Jug with Wire and Wood Handle

This is an awesome redware batter jug with it's wire and wood handle still intact! It measures 8" tall, about 7" diameter at the widest part, an opening of 4 1/8" and 9 3/4" from spout to handle. Note the bottom of this piece with the red tint. The glaze is a dark, matte brown slip. The handle is heavy wire with a wood center. Condition is very good with no cracks. There is some normal chipping on the rear, bottom ear handle (the color under the chip is gray) commiserate with age and a few glaze misses and flakes. The wire handle has aged and has some rust and it moves sluggishly up and down so I've moved it very little in order to save the "ear handles" that hold the wire. Note that one wire bends up through an ear handle and one wire bends down - an interesting fact of note. It most likely dates in the late 1800's. This nice piece is from my private collection purchased at an antique shop, it has graced my kitchen countertop for the past twenty-five years as a spoon holder so it is not only beautiful but functional as well! Please note this item is housed at The Old Timey Shop - my apologies if it sells there and I don't remove this listing promptly!

Condition: Excellent
Manufacturer: Redware
