This is a glass lid that fits a "Crystal Jar" (this is the name of the jar, not type of jar. It is marked "Patented Dec 17, 1878". It was designed to fit the Crystal Jar without using any metal - a rubber ring formed a seal between the glass likd and the mouth of the glass jar. It has internal lugs designed to fit the threads of the jar.
This lid measures 3" in diameter.

| It has some issues - one internal lug has a 3/8" chip, there is roughness along the outer bottom edge with several small chip/flakes plus one 1/4" chip and one notch on top is chipped. I believe you can see everything in the photos. There are also normal air bubble inherent to old glass. While it has some issues, it has lots of vintage use and is a hard lid to find for a great jar. |
