Condition: Excellent Manufacturer: Nippon This exquisite Nippon wall plaque measures just under 10" in diameter. It has the blue maple leaf mark #52 referenced in "Van Patten's ABC's of Collecting Nippon Porcelain".
The colors are extraordinary depicting a woodland scene with pale simple trees standing in the background with a burst of sunlight in the middle and woodland flowers popping forth, seemingly off the plate.

There is gold trim and a gold beaded scroll along the rim, gold trim on the flowers and leaves and some beading on the flowers as well. The colors are pale green, darker green and pale/dark pink variations with a yellow glow in the center for the sunlight. There is a similar style plate shown on page 240 of Van Patten's book.
Condition is excellent with no chips or cracks. There is a little loss of gold along the edge. This is an estate find so it has been hanging on a wall - the wire hanger is still attached.
The picture does not do this piece justice - you won't be disappointed. |
